We Love Social Shopping Sites

In our quest to get Taylor & Vine a more prominent spot in the Google Web Sites, we research an awful lot of web sites, blogs and forums. It was during these searches we first came across social shopping sites.

Social shopping sites come a variety of shapes and guises, but are basically a mixture of on-line and traditional shopping where you shop in a social networking environment similar to sites like MySpace. Using information gathered by on-line shoppers, users communicate and aggregate information about products, prices, and deals. Many sites allow users to create custom shopping lists and share them with friends.

There are many different types of social shopping sites out there, but from our point of view we are totally hooked on Fashion Social shopping sites. Many of these sites provide us with really good indications of what is hot and what is not, the latest fashion trends and what web consumers are looking for. But as a web shopper myself - these sites are perfect for finding really great new product finds and web sites, but also give you some really creative ideas on how fashion items and accessories can be put together.

We have such a lot of lovely products on our web site that are constantly being updated with new items to suit the seasons, trends and the new desginers we bring on line. There are so many to choose from, we thought we'd start featuring our favourite product each month.

Go Greener with your Jewellery

At a time when Vivienne Westwood is urging us to buy fashion items more responsibly in the fight against global warning, we all ought to be thinking of how we how we can take a more ethical and greener approach to buying jewellery. We have therefore come up with the following tips for being more environmentally aware with our purchases of jewellery;

1. Seek out ethical and fair trade designers and brands that use responsibly resourced and recycled materials such as Mirabelle Designer Jewellery (available from Taylor & Vine)

2. Buy a few classic or designer jewellery pieces that will transcend seasons and trends and still look stunning in another ten years time.

3. Some pieces of jewellery never date! For example silver bangles or cuffs, a stunning glittering cocktail ring, hoop or drop earrings, pearl necklaces.

4. Buy jewellery that suits your own personal style and your shape/colouring, rather than what is the latest fashion trend. This way you will avoid impulse buys that you never wear and find you get much more wear out of your jewellery.
